What is Revisional Blepharoplasty
At Retmus Plastic Surgery, we leverage extensive experience and know-how in revision surgery to achieve results that minimize the need for further procedures and maximize patient satisfaction.
The appropriate timing for revision surgery depends on the condition of the patient’s eyes, but it is generally recommended to wait approximately six months after the initial surgery, allowing the tissues to stabilize.
Revision surgery is complex and requires delicate correction. To ensure safe and satisfactory results, it should be performed by highly experienced and specialized surgeons.

Revisional Blepharoplasty — Recommended for the Following Cases
- Case 01
- When the double eyelid fold appears excessively thick, resulting in a “sausage-type” fold
Most swelling subsides within 6 months to 1 year after surgery. If the swelling persists beyond that period, it may not be simple edema but a true sausage-type fold.
In such cases, revisional blepharoplasty may be necessary after accurately assessing the fold position, fat distribution, and overall eyelid condition.
- Case 02
- When the eyelid line fades or becomes undone
For individuals whose eyelid folds tend to loosen easily, the appropriate method—whether non-incisional or incisional—
should be determined through consultation before proceeding with revisional surgery.
- Case 03
- When the left and right folds are asymmetric
If asymmetry continues even after 6 months postoperatively, it is important to determine whether revisional surgery is needed.
- Case 04
- When there is little improvement compared to before the primary surgery
If the overall impression has not significantly improved compared to the preoperative appearance, revisional blepharoplasty may be necessary to readjust the eyelid line.
- Case 05
- When there is general dissatisfaction with the eye shape or overall surgical outcome
If the eye shape or surgical result is broadly unsatisfactory, a precise evaluation is required to determine whether revisional surgery is appropriate.

Postoperative Precautions
Here are some important guidelines to follow after surgery.
- Q.
-
# Revisional blepharoplastyPatient
Does revisional surgery make the scar look even worse?
-
# Revisional blepharoplastyRetmus Plastic Surgery
On the contrary, it does not.
During revisional blepharoplasty, the previous scar is removed through precise incision,
and more meticulous and refined suturing is performed.
Because of this, the scar can actually become less noticeable and significantly improved. - A.

My double eyelid lines look different on each side. What should I do?

Human faces are not perfectly symmetrical, so slight differences may appear even after surgery.
Factors such as facial asymmetry, eyebrow height differences,
and variation in eyelid-opening strength can make even a 1 mm deviation appear significant.
Therefore, mild variations within the normal range are considered natural and acceptable. - A.
