Retmus Plastic Surgery
What is Lower Blepharoplasty?
The under-eye area is prone to puffiness from fat pads or sagging of the skin and muscles,
making it one of the first areas to show signs of aging.
At Retmus, lower blepharoplasty involves an incision just below the eyelashes to remove unnecessary fat,
loose skin, and muscles, while repositioning and securing the remaining fat.
As a result, the under-eye area is lifted and tightened, improving dark circles and wrinkles,
and creating a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
Lower Blepharoplasty vs Under-Eye Fat Repositioning
Is under-eye fat repositioning enough on its own, or is lower blepharoplasty necessary?
At Retmus, we clearly explain the differences between these two procedures to help you make an informed choice.

| Smooth, Scar-Free Results | Improve Puffy and Wrinkled Under-Eyes |
| This procedure is suitable when the under-eye skin is not sagging but the fat pads are protruding. By making an incision through the inner eyelid(conjunctiva), the fat is evenly repositioned without leaving a visible scar. The orbital septum is reinforced to smooth the skin, while preserving the aegyosal(orbicularis oculi) for a natural, three-dimensional under-eye contour. | This procedure is ideal when both sagging under-eye skin and protruding fat are present. Excess skin is removed and muscles are lifted and secured. The under-eye fat is repositioned, and the hollow tear trough is filled. The aegyosal(orbicularis oculi) is preserved to create a natural, youthful, and three-dimensional under-eye appearance. |
